Why Trust CoralBay?
CoralBay was created by a UK reef hobbyist for UK reef hobbyists.
It wasn’t built by a large company, investment group or retailer. It was built because there wasn’t a single place that brought together coral trading, reef shop discovery, community listings and practical reefing tools in one platform.
Everything on CoralBay is actively maintained, improved and shaped by feedback from real reef aquarium hobbyists across the UK.
Built Around the Reefing Community
CoralBay exists to help reefers connect with other reefers.
Whether you’re buying your first frag, selling equipment from a tank breakdown, looking for a trusted reef shop, or simply trying to discover what’s available near you, CoralBay aims to make those connections easier.
More Than Just Coral Listings
Today CoralBay includes:
- Community Corals – hobbyist-to-hobbyist coral listings with zero fees and zero commission.
- Marine Marketplace – buy and sell reef equipment, livestock and complete tank breakdowns.
- UK Reef Shop Directory – discover reef shops across the United Kingdom.
- Reef Route Finder – find corals, livestock, equipment and reef shops along your journey.
- Visual Filters – browse listings by photos before viewing them on the map.
- CoralBay Messages – communicate with buyers and sellers without exposing your email address.
- Reef Tank Parameters Tracker – track and monitor your aquarium parameters online.
Designed for UK Reefers
CoralBay focuses specifically on the UK marine reefing community. Features, tools and directories are designed around how UK hobbyists buy, sell, travel and interact with local reef shops and fellow reefers.
Built by a Reefer
Every feature on CoralBay started as a real reefing problem.
Many of the tools available today were created because hobbyists wanted easier ways to discover livestock, find reef shops, plan collection journeys, sell tank equipment or connect with other reefers.
The platform continues to evolve based on community feedback and real-world use.
Transparency
CoralBay is not a retailer pretending to be a community platform.
While CoralBay operates a small online shop, the platform itself is designed to support hobbyist-to-hobbyist trading, reef shop discovery, community interaction and useful reefing tools for hobbyists across the UK.
Our Goal
The goal is simple: to create the most useful online platform for UK reef aquarium hobbyists.

What is CoralBay?
CoralBay is a platform built by a fellow reefer.
That might not sound like a strong selling point — but it’s the most honest one.
l
CoralBay combines community coral listings, a marine marketplace, UK reef shop discovery and reefing tools in a single platform built specifically for UK reef aquarium hobbyists.
This isn’t a large company trying to “enter a market”. It’s something that was built out of necessity — to solve real problems that reefers in the UK face when trying to buy, sell, or simply discover corals.
Everything you see here has been designed and refined with that in mind. Not just how it looks, but how it actually works day to day. If something doesn’t work properly, it gets fixed. If something can be improved, it usually is.
Why CoralBay Exists
CoralBay wasn’t created to replace Facebook groups, forums or local fish stores.
It was created because information in the hobby is often fragmented.
Corals are advertised in one place, equipment in another, reef shops somewhere else and local opportunities are often difficult to discover.
CoralBay brings these together in a single platform designed specifically for UK reef aquarium hobbyists.
What can you do here?
CoralBay is built around one idea: making the reefing hobby more connected, more discoverable and easier to navigate.
On the platform you can:
Discover UK reef shops
Find corals, livestock and equipment near you
Use Route Finder to discover corals, equipment, livestock and reef shops along your journey.
Buy directly from reefers
Buy from CoralBay vendors
Sell corals and equipment
Track aquarium parameters
Message buyers and sellers privately
Community corals
Community corals are a big part of CoralBay.
It allows reefers to list corals they’ve grown and share them with others.
Listings are free
Buyers contact sellers directly
No middleman
No fees
CoralBay doesn’t process these transactions — it simply makes them visible and easy to find.
That’s intentional.
Some people prefer the simplicity of dealing directly with another reefer, without going through checkout systems, fees, or formal processes.
This part of the platform will always remain free.
Vendor system
Not everyone wants to handle messages, organise collections, and manage communication.
For that, CoralBay offers a vendor system.
Vendors list products on the site
Buyers purchase through CoralBay
Vendors ship the corals
CoralBay currently charges no commission on vendor sales.
Visibility
One of the hardest parts of selling corals online is simply being found.
CoralBay takes care of that side for you.
Listings are structured to appear in Google search and shopping results, and this applies to both community listings and vendor products.
It’s not just Google — listings can also appear across Microsoft (Bing), Facebook, and other platforms. This kind of exposure is difficult to set up and maintain individually, so it’s all handled behind the scenes.
All you need to do is list your corals.
Give it a try — it costs nothing, and we’d really value your feedback.
Trust & protection
CoralBay actively monitors listings and removes users who breach trust or community standards.
Buyer protection works slightly differently depending on how you buy.
Community listings
Transactions are direct between buyer and seller
CoralBay is not involved in payment
However:
If serious issues arise, we can investigate
Users can be removed from the platform if necessary
Vendor purchases
Payments are processed through CoralBay
Vendors receive funds after delivery
DOA (Dead on Arrival) policies apply
If something goes wrong:
CoralBay aims to help resolve issues fairly and reasonably where possible.
Why not just use Facebook, WhatsApp, or forums?
Most reefers already use these — and they’re useful.
But they have limitations:
Many platforms don’t officially allow coral or livestock sales
Listings are scattered and disappear quickly
Searching for specific corals or livestock is difficult
Rules can change overnight (as seen with eBay)
CoralBay is trying to solve that by creating:
one place where corals, livestock and equipment can be discovered, listed, and bought
Not the only place — but a more reliable one.
Does this affect local fish stores?
It’s a fair concern.
The way we see it:
A stronger community doesn’t reduce demand — it increases it.
More people in the hobby
More engagement
More interest in corals
All of that benefits local shops as well.
Reefers selling a few frags from their tank won’t replace shops — just like people sharing plants didn’t replace garden centres.
There’s room for both.
Final note
CoralBay is not trying to present itself as perfect.
It’s a growing platform — built carefully, improved continuously, and shaped by the people using it.
If it’s useful to you, use it.
If something doesn’t feel right, it can be improved.
