CoralBay.UK Push Notifications
CoralBay.UK supports push notifications, helping reefers stay updated without relying only on email.
This is especially useful because email notifications can sometimes end up in spam folders or simply be missed. Push notifications can appear directly on your phone, making it much easier to notice messages, enquiries and other important CoralBay activity.
You do not need to download CoralBay from the Apple App Store or Google Play. CoralBay.UK can be added to your phone directly from your web browser, giving you a Home Screen icon and optional push notifications.
Once installed, CoralBay opens much like a normal app and stays up to date automatically whenever you use it.
Why we introduced push notifications
CoralBay is built around communication between UK reefers. Whether someone replies to a message, enquires about a listing, matches a saved Notify Me alert, or there is an update about one of your listings, timing matters.
Push notifications make it much easier to keep conversations moving and reduce the chance of missing something important.
One of the biggest advantages is that push notifications do not depend on your email provider or its spam filters.
What you can be notified about
Depending on your notification preferences, CoralBay can alert you when:
- Another reefer sends you a CoralBay message
- Someone enquires about one of your Community Corals listings
- Someone enquires about one of your Marine Marketplace listings
- A listing matches one of your Notify Me alerts
- There is activity around a Wanted Item
- Your listing is approved, updated, expiring soon or expired
Three ways CoralBay keeps you informed
CoralBay can keep you informed in three different ways:
- Notification Centre – Logged-in users receive in-site notifications through the notification bell in the top left corner of CoralBay.
- Push notifications – Connect your phone or other supported device to receive notifications even when you are not actively browsing CoralBay.
- Email notifications – CoralBay can also send email notifications for selected events, depending on your notification preferences.
You can use one of these methods or a combination that suits you best.
You stay in control
Notifications are optional and you can change your preferences at any time.
Open your Notification Centre and select the cog wheel icon ⚙️ next to the Notification Centre to open Notification Preferences.
From there you can manage your notification preferences and check your Push connections.
Your phone or browser also controls whether CoralBay has permission to display push notifications, and that permission can be changed from your device settings.
The CoralBay installation popup
When you log in to CoralBay.UK on a supported mobile device, you may see the “Enable CoralBay notifications” popup.
This is CoralBay’s installation assistant and is designed to guide you through setting up the best possible mobile experience.
The popup is shown automatically to logged-in users who have not yet completed the setup.
If you choose Maybe later, CoralBay may remind you again after a while.
If you choose Don’t ask again, the popup will stop appearing. This option is not recommended if you intend to use push notifications, as you may miss the guided setup. You can still install CoralBay manually at any time.
The popup behaves differently depending on your device. On iPhone, it mainly provides guidance because Apple does not allow websites to install themselves automatically. On Android, the popup may be able to start the standard Install App process for you.
How to install CoralBay.UK on iPhone

iPhone setup has two important parts: first adding CoralBay to your Home Screen, and then opening the new icon and allowing notifications.
- Open CoralBay.UK in Safari.
- Log in and go to My Account.
- Tap Safari’s Share button.
- Choose Add to Home Screen.
- Open CoralBay using the newly created Home Screen icon.
- When CoralBay asks whether you want to allow notifications, choose Allow.
The exact location of Apple’s Share button and Add to Home Screen option can vary slightly between iOS versions.
The important point is that push notifications on iPhone work from the installed Home Screen version of CoralBay, not simply from a normal Safari browser tab.
How to install CoralBay.UK on Android
- Open CoralBay.UK in Chrome, Brave, Edge or another supported browser.
- Log in and go to My Account.
- Tap Install CoralBay if prompted, or use your browser menu and choose Add to Home Screen or Install app.
- Open CoralBay using the new icon.
- Allow notifications when asked.
On some Android devices you may be asked twice: once to install CoralBay and once to allow notifications. Follow both prompts if you want the full app-like experience with push notifications.
Push notifications not working?
If CoralBay is installed and notifications have previously been enabled but you are not receiving push notifications, please check your CoralBay push connection.
Open:
Notification Centre → ⚙️ Notification Preferences → Push connections
Check whether your current device is shown as connected.
If push notifications are still not working, you may need to disconnect the push connection for this device and then reconnect push notifications on the device.
This creates a fresh push connection and can resolve problems caused by an old, expired or invalid browser/device connection.
After reconnecting, also make sure that notifications for CoralBay are still allowed in your phone or browser settings.

Will notifications cost me anything?
No. CoralBay push notifications are free.
Do I need to install an app from the App Store or Google Play?
No. CoralBay installs directly from your web browser.
Can I remove CoralBay later?
Yes. You can remove the Home Screen icon or uninstall the installed web app from your device.
Can I turn notifications off later?
Yes. You can disable notification permissions from your phone or browser settings at any time.
You can also open the ⚙️ cog wheel next to the Notification Centre to access Notification Preferences, where you can manage your CoralBay notification settings and view your Push connections.
What should I do if notifications suddenly stop working?
Go to Notification Centre → ⚙️ Notification Preferences → Push connections.
If your device is connected but notifications are not arriving, try disconnecting that device and reconnecting push notifications. Also check that notification permission for CoralBay has not been disabled in your phone or browser settings.
Does this replace email?
Not completely. Email notifications may still be used, but push notifications give CoralBay users a faster way to notice important activity.
The aim is to reduce missed messages and improve communication between buyers, sellers and other reefers using CoralBay.
Final note
Installing CoralBay.UK does not install anything from the App Store or require a separate app download.
It simply allows CoralBay to behave more like an app on your phone, with a Home Screen icon and optional push notifications.
If push notifications ever stop working, remember to check ⚙️ Notification Preferences → Push connections. Disconnecting and reconnecting your device is often the first thing to try.
