How does Retailer Products work? — Guide & FAQs
Already have your own marine aquarium website?
CoralBay Retailer Products allows verified UK marine retailers to offer selected products through CoralBay without having to create every listing from scratch.
If your products already appear in UK Reef Market, much of the information we need is already there. Simply choose which products you’d like to offer, import them into CoralBay, review the details and publish.
Who can use it?
UK marine aquarium retailers with an existing website whose products are indexed by UK Reef Market can request to have their CoralBay account linked to their shop.
To request access, email support@coralbay.uk with your website address and CoralBay account details. We’ll verify your connection to the business before enabling retailer imports.
How do I import a product?
- Sign in to your linked CoralBay account.
- Open My Account → Buy & Sell → Retailer products.
- Browse or search the products already indexed from your website.
- Choose whether the product belongs in Community Corals or Marine Marketplace.
- Click Create draft.
- Open the imported listing, review the details, select the category and configure collection or delivery.
- Publish the listing when you’re happy with it.
CoralBay imports the product name, price and photograph where available. You can add your own description and other listing details.
Which selling section should I choose?
Community Corals: For coral listings only.
Marine Marketplace: For other marine aquarium products, including equipment and eligible livestock, subject to CoralBay’s listing rules.
What happens to prices?
CoralBay Intelligence regularly scans participating retailers and updates UK Reef Market with product information.
When a successful scan detects a valid price change, imported retailer listings are automatically updated too — including drafts and published listings, subject to safety checks.
You don’t need to change the price manually in two places. Updates follow CoralBay’s normal scan schedule, rather than happening instantly when you change your website.
What happens when a product sells out or disappears from my website?
When CoralBay Intelligence confirms that a product is out of stock or has been removed following a successful scan, its imported listing is automatically made unavailable on CoralBay.
If the product becomes available again, it may be restored automatically when that option is enabled and the listing is eligible. Sold listings and listings involved in active purchases or auctions are protected against inappropriate reactivation.
Temporary scanning failures or incomplete scans are not treated as proof that a product has sold.
What happens when someone buys my product?
Before the buyer proceeds to payment, CoralBay checks the original product page to verify availability.
Retailer-imported products are sold through CoralBay Protection. Buyers pay securely through CoralBay, and the retailer fulfils the order using the agreed collection or delivery method.
You’ll need to complete Stripe payment onboarding before receiving protected purchase payments.
Are there any fees?
Buyers are not charged an additional CoralBay Protection fee on retailer-imported products.
Instead, CoralBay deducts the applicable protection commission from the retailer’s proceeds. The commission uses CoralBay’s current configured rates and is calculated on the product price plus any applicable delivery charge.
For example, if the commission were 4% plus 50p, a £100 collection sale would result in £4.50 commission and £95.50 retailer proceeds, before any other applicable deductions.
Do I need to keep checking my listings?
Most routine price and availability changes are handled automatically following successful CoralBay Intelligence scans.
However, retailers remain responsible for fulfilling confirmed orders, keeping their own stock records accurate and promptly reserving products sold through CoralBay. CoralBay’s verification does not reserve stock on your own website.
Can I offer collection or delivery?
Yes. You can configure the supported options when editing your listing. Retailer-imported products must use CoralBay Protection for payment.
