CoralBay UK | Reefing hub guide
Find UK reef shops with the CoralBay map
Explore specialist marine aquarium shops, coral retailers and home-grown coral sellers across the UK, all from one searchable directory and interactive map.
Whether you are looking for a local shop, planning a coral shopping trip or discovering new reefing businesses, CoralBay helps you find relevant places and learn how to contact or visit them.
About the directory
A dedicated map for UK marine aquarium shops
Reef keeping is a specialist hobby. Finding a shop that understands marine fish, corals, invertebrates and reef equipment is not always as straightforward as looking for a general pet store.
The CoralBay Reef Shops Directory brings together marine-focused businesses and some independent home-grown coral sellers with a public selling presence. It combines an interactive map with a searchable, sortable list, so you can explore the country or concentrate on your own area.
The directory is a discovery tool, not an online shop or a live stock guarantee. Each business remains responsible for its own products, opening arrangements and customer service.
Two ways to explore
Map: See the location of businesses with reliable coordinates and open their information popups.
Shop list: Search, filter, sort and open individual shop guides, including listings without a mapped location.
Getting started
How to use the Reef Shops Map
You do not need to work through every filter. Start with a place or shop you are interested in and narrow the results as needed.
- Open the directoryGo to UK Reef Shops to see the map and table.
- Search or filterEnter a shop name, city or county, or select the filters that matter to you.
- Explore a map pinOpen a shop popup to access its shop guide, website, phone number or directions where available.
- Check before visitingOpen the individual shop page, then confirm hours, availability and whether visits are welcome.
Tip: The map pins update when you search or change filters. Use Reset in the directory to return to the wider shop list.
Search and filters
Find the right kind of reef retailer
The directory gives you both a text search and four groups of filters, which can be used together.
Business type
Choose Shop or Home-grown to concentrate on the kind of seller you want.
Visit policy
Choose Walk-in, Appointment only or No visits.
Region
Browse a wider part of the UK, such as North, South, Central, Wales or Scotland.
County
Concentrate on a specific county using the dedicated selection list.
Search by name or area
The search field matches shop names, known aliases, counties, cities and notes. It can help you find a particular retailer or shops described as specialising in a product.
Sort the results
Select table headings to sort shops by name, type, region, county, city or review count. Use Show all shops to expand the initially shortened table.
Worth knowing: The free-text search does not search every field. In particular, use the Region filter for regions; the directory does not currently provide a postcode search box. Location-based discovery is handled by Shops near me.
Local discovery
Find reef shops near your location
The Shops near me button uses your device's browser location permission to identify nearby businesses that have usable map coordinates.
- Open the Reef Shops Directory and find the Shops near me button above the map.
- Allow the browser to use your location if asked.
- Choose a radius: 10, 25, 50 or 100 miles.
- Review the distance information and the shops sorted from nearest to furthest.
- Use Clear when you want to stop the near-me view.
How the distance works
CoralBay calculates approximate straight-line distances between your location and available shop coordinates. These are not road-driving distances.
The map shows your location and the selected radius, while the status text reports how many mapped shops fall within it.
Important distinction: The current near-me option sorts the table by distance and counts shops inside your selected radius; it does not strictly hide every shop outside that radius. Shops without usable coordinates cannot have a distance calculated. If location access is blocked or unavailable, try searching by city or county instead.
Interactive map
What happens when you open a map pin?
Tap or click a map marker to open a popup with links for that particular reef shop.
Shop guide and reviews
Open the CoralBay shop page, where you can see available details, community ratings and customer comments.
Find in table
Jump from a map marker to the corresponding shop row in the searchable directory list.
Website, call or sat nav
Open the retailer's website, call an available number or launch directions in Apple Maps or Google Maps.
Not every business has a published website, telephone number or usable location. The popup reflects whichever details are available. On the map, Use sat nav opens directions to the recorded coordinates, so always confirm the actual visiting address before setting off.
Returning to the map: Individual shop pages include a Back to reef shops map link. In the current plugin, it normally brings you back with that shop selected and its map popup opened. When the shop has no reliable coordinates, the directory can instead take you to its table row.
Understand the labels
Shop type and visiting policy are not the same thing
CoralBay separates what kind of business it is from whether customers can visit. This helps avoid wasted journeys.
Shop
A retailer or specialist aquatic business listed in the directory. A shop may have a showroom, offer appointments or operate without customer visits.
Home-grown
An independent reef keeper or coral-growing operation with a public selling presence. This label does not itself mean visitors can turn up without arranging a collection.
Walk-in
Indicates that visits are generally possible. Check the shop's latest opening hours first.
Appointment only
Contact the business and agree on a suitable time before travelling.
No visits
Do not assume there is a public shop or collection facility. The business may operate online or by delivery.
Please check before travelling: A shop's visiting arrangement may change. For livestock purchases, also confirm availability, collection arrangements and any required appointment directly with the seller.
Individual shop guides
More than a pin on a map
Each shop name in the directory links to an individual CoralBay shop page with additional information where available.
Location and contact details
Find a recorded address or area, postcode, telephone number and email where these have been supplied.
Community feedback
Read the shop's comments and star ratings. Where the comment form is available, you can share your own experience.
Nearby reef shops
Some shop guides suggest nearby businesses with their approximate distances, giving you alternatives in the area.
Some pages also display transparency information where a full address or contact details have not been confirmed. Entries can show the last review date when one has been recorded.
About reviews: These are community opinions, not an endorsement or guarantee from CoralBay. Consider the date and context of each comment as well as the rating.
Directory transparency
Why some shops appear in the list but not on the map
Some businesses have a legitimate online or coral-selling presence without an address CoralBay can reliably place on the public map. Others may have incomplete location details.
The directory therefore retains eligible listings in the table even if a marker cannot be shown. Its summary explains how many shops are represented and how many matching results have usable coordinates.
Use the excluded ... due to missing location link in the map summary to see entries that are currently not mapped, with options to find them in the table.
Missing a pin does not mean missing a shop
A retailer can still have a CoralBay shop guide even when its public location is incomplete or intentionally not disclosed.
CoralBay avoids inventing a precise location simply to put another pin on the map.

Reef Route Finder
Enter a journey or starting location and find reef shops and suitable local coral or marketplace listings near your route.

Help improve the directory
Found an incorrect or missing shop?
Correct an existing listing
Open the shop's CoralBay guide and choose Report an update. It opens an email with the shop name and link already included, making it easier to report closures, moves, rebrands or changed contact details.
Suggest a missing reef shop
Know an active UK marine specialist that is not listed? Email shop@coralbay.uk with the shop name, location and website, if known, so CoralBay can review it.
Listings are maintained as a community resource, but changes are not automatically verified the moment they are reported. Accurate and recent public information helps make the directory more useful.
Frequently asked questions
Useful things to know before you explore
Can I use the directory without an account?

Does Shops near me calculate driving distance?
No. It measures approximate straight-line distance from your browser's location to available shop coordinates. Use sat nav to plan the actual journey.
Why can't I see every shop on the map?
Some entries have no reliable coordinates. They can remain in the shop table and appear in the missing-location list.
Can I find collection-only coral listings here?
Not in the main shop directory. Use Reef Route Finder to explore suitable local collection listings alongside reef shops.
Is the directory a guarantee that a shop is open?

Can I leave a shop review?
Individual shop pages display community feedback and a star-rating comment form where available. Reviews represent individual experiences.
