Description
Hello everyone,
Track aquarium ORP with browser access, historical charts and optional smart-socket ozone control. DIY-built monitor from CoralBay UK. First units £130
I’d like to share an ORP monitor I originally built for my own aquariums. I’ve been using it for some time, developing and refining it along the way, and it now also controls my ozone generator through a compatible smart socket.
I’m offering the first few units to interested reefers for **£130 each**.
What makes it useful is the combination of everyday ORP monitoring, long-term history and optional ozone control, all accessible through a browser on your phone, tablet or computer.
**How does it work?**
An ORP probe sits in your aquarium and connects to the monitor, which is powered by USB-C. The monitor connects to your home Wi-Fi, and you open its dashboard by entering its local address into your browser—for example, `192.168.100.100` while connected to the same network.
If you want to control ozone, your ozone generator plugs into a separate, compatible smart socket or an individually controlled outlet on a smart extension lead. The monitor sends commands to that socket over Wi-Fi.
With supported BG sockets and extension leads, socket control works locally over your home network without needing an internet connection. Your Wi-Fi network still needs to be running.
You can also use it purely as an ORP monitor, without a smart socket or ozone generator.
**More than a current reading**
The dashboard lets you see what your ORP is doing now and how it changes over time. Features include:
* Charts covering **12 hours, 24 hours, 10 days, 30 days and up to one year**, as history builds.
* **30-minute averages across the last 10 days**, so you can compare the same time of day and spot patterns more easily.
* Events you can mark on the charts—for example, water changes, feeding, maintenance or changes to ozone settings.
* Tools to remove unwanted recorded points, such as readings taken while the probe was out of the water.
* Probe calibration, installation dates and maintenance records.
* CSV backup and restore.
* Wi-Fi, smart-socket and ozone-control settings.
There is also optional **CoralBay synchronisation**, allowing you to view a summary of your ORP readings and ozone socket status through CoralBay.
For me, the history is a big part of its usefulness. A single number tells you where ORP is now; the charts and averages help you understand what is normal for your own aquarium and what changes after you do something.
**How does ozone control work?**
You choose the compatible socket and outlet used by your ozone generator, then set separate ORP thresholds for switching it on and off.
The control is designed to avoid reacting to every brief fluctuation. The settings specify a sustained low reading before switching ozone on and a sustained high reading before switching it off.
There is also a separate emergency ORP ceiling, set to **450 mV by default**, which you can configure. This is an additional control limit, not a recommended ORP target for every aquarium.
If ozone is fed through your skimmer or reactor, you can enable a socket interlock. This checks the designated skimmer/reactor outlet and tells the ozone socket to switch off if that outlet is off or its state cannot be confirmed.
It checks the **electrical outlet’s reported state**, rather than detecting water flow or confirming that the pump itself is running.
**Compatibility**
Not every smart socket is supported. If you already have one, send me its exact model before buying and I can check whether it is suitable or suggest a compatible option.
**What is included for £130?**
* The ORP monitor.
* USB power adapter.
* Power cable.
* Delivery.
You will need a **compatible double-junction ORP probe**, which is not included. If you already have one, check compatibility with me first.
A compatible smart socket is only needed if you want ozone control. The ozone generator itself is not included.
**An honest note about the finish**
This is a DIY-built project that I use on my own aquariums. I’m pleased with how the software has developed, but the physical presentation is still basic. These first units will use a practical electrical junction-style enclosure rather than a purpose-designed case, and the introductory price reflects that.
If you’re comfortable with that finish, it offers a useful combination of monitoring, history and configurable control for £130.
Interested, or want to see more of the dashboard? Drop me a message at **[support@coralbay.uk](mailto:support@coralbay.uk)**. I’m happy to explain how it works and check whether it would suit your setup.
